Tasting - Red Muscadine

Red Muscadine
Muscadine
Virginia
2011
$10.99

Wine review: Made from the favorite southern grape Muscadine. This wine is sweet and smooth, packed the unique Muscadine character, and lightly sparkling. Aroma: Fruity Palate: Sweet, lightly-sparkling. Finish: Crisp, refreshing.

My review: Deep and dark cherry color with about 60% transparent. Strong grape and cotton candy aroma on the nose. I was able to smell the grape even from the distance. I was told the grape was "Fox grape" which is local grape in the southwest Virginia region. It was medium sweet and less acidic on the palate. Spicy kick on the mid palate with short finish. Also, this wine was a sparkling wine, but not on the sweet side. Well balanced with acidic and sweet components with clean and crisp finish. It will be a good appetizer wine with light appetizers, such as salsa and chips or mild spicy chicken wings.
